Gate Designs - Bespoke & Ornate Fabrication

SWI is proud to offer the following catalogue of designs. Our ironwork products offer excellent value for money and can be flexible and versatile, as we build all gates to customer size requirements & configure as necessary.

As we are suppliers of bespoke ironwork, any minor changes can usually be accommodated, for example top scrolls from one design may be preferred on another. Also the designs offered do not exhaust our repertoire. Please ask if our designs do not suit.

Ironwork can be personalised by the addition of locking arrangements, & accommodating any requirements a customer may have. This has included gaps for pets, backing options, and even in one case discouragement for foxes. (but they can be cunning!)

Gates can be finished with the following options:

  • Primed
  • Galvanised
  • Powder coated

The weight of the material can have a big effect on the finished product by creating a balance to make sure it can just look right.

Standard Specifications

We usually work to proven specifications for frame and bar diameters; although these can be altered on request.

Wrought Iron Finials

Range of Wrought Iron Finials

Finials are interchangeable with any of our wrought iron gate designs, ensuring no two gates are the same. Pick your favourite!

You can therefore see, there are a lot of factors to get right, all of which are important and have to come together to create the right look.

A lot of the major design considerations can be worked out by inviting us for a survey for personalised advice. There is no charge or obligation & can be the best way to arrive at costings. Surveys have very frequently thrown up new ideas that have not been thought of by the client, and proved acceptable & practical. We apply our experience to arrive at practical and elegant solutions that meet the customer’s need.

Type of Gate Operation

Once you have decided on a visually appealing design for your gates, you'll need to consider how they will actually open.

Swing Gates are the most common type of gate. They are easiest to install and automate.

Due to the fact that these type of gates swing into your property, you do need to make sure that you have sufficient space in your driveway area.

Sliding Gates require a little more civil engineering than swing gates.

However, they are the perfect solution when your driveway is longer than it is deep, or it is on a steep incline.

Bi-Folding Gates are a great space-saving option.

If you have limited space in your driveway, swing gates would hit your car and you don't have space for a slider, then folding gates could be the solution.
